Sam Fribush Organ Jam
September 12, 2025 @ 10:00pm
Join us for a high-octane night of groove and improvisation as Sam Fribush takes the stage for his Indy Jazz Fest debut, leading a soulful Organ Jam alongside saxophonist Rob Dixon and drummer Richard “Sleepy” Floyd. Known for his fluid touch on the Hammond B3, Fribush blends gospel, jazz, and funk into a bold, genre-bending sound that ignites the stage.
A Greensboro, North Carolina native, Fribush is described as “an old soul with a youthful spirit” whose sincerity “cuts straight through every note he plays” (Ric Robertson). After earning his degree in Contemporary Improvisation from the New England Conservatory of Music, Fribush spent years playing the New Orleans club circuit at iconic venues like Preservation Hall and the Maple Leaf. In 2020, he began collaborating with guitarist Charlie Hunter, launching the Sam Fribush Organ Trio and releasing a series of albums that earned national attention.
Fribush’s deep musical vocabulary and rhythmic sense have made him a go-to collaborator, recording and touring with artists like Hiss Golden Messenger, MC Taylor, Lucius, Butcher Brown, and more. His 2024 release People Please and his forthcoming 2025 album Another Side of the Sound continue to expand his artistic reach.
Expect a night of raw musicianship, deep pocket grooves, and unexpected turns as Fribush, Dixon, and Floyd explore the expressive power of the organ trio. This performance promises an immersive journey for jazz lovers, groove seekers, and anyone who appreciates live music that moves the soul.
